Ports only need to be forwarded if you have a router, so if you don't have one there is no need to forward ports.
Why do you believe you need to forward ports?
Are you seen as connectible in your torrent client?

Does it not download at all, or is it just slow? Do you have a firewall? It might be blocking the torrent program from connecting.

I believe if the ports are blocked it will still download, just it will be really slow. Which client are you using? And who is your ISP?

Try this. It's supposed to let yo check to see if any ports are being blocked by your ISP.

Let us know if you have any blocked ports!

"Error: I could not see your service on 192.168.9.2 on port (5555)
    Reason: No route to host"

    Background

Most residential ISP's block ports to combat viruses and spam. The most commonly blocked ports are port 80 and port 25.

Port 80 is the default port for http traffic. With blocked port 80 you will need to run your web server on a non-standard port in conjunction with a port 80/web redirect from No-IP.com.

Port 25 is the default port for sending and receiving mail. ISPs block this port to reduce the amount of spam generated by worms on infected machines within their network. If you need to send legitimate email and your ISP blocks port 25. Consider the solutions from No-IP.com.

Hmm this isn't right at all. 192.168.9.2 is in a IP range reserved for home network use, a website should never be able to see that. Did you type in that IP?
Go to this site and see if it gives you the same IP.
      http://www.checkip.org/

You would only expect an IP from this range inside a home network with a router.

        Hmm what strange behavior. ???
The second IP is your external or public IP. This is the one websites and others on the internet should be seeing. (You can remove the second IP from your last post btw. it might pose security risk to post it on a public forum.)

You can leave 192.168.9.2, no one can use this IP for anything bad.
Let's see what IP windows register for your computer.
Go to start and select Run...
        Type cmd and hit enter.
type ipconfig /all and hit enter.
Copy the info it outputs here.

          It gets stranger...
This is the IP assigned to your computer on your network 10.12.0.231.
Well I can't make sense of the strange results the sites are reporting, but lets try to ignore this for a second.
You definitely have a router present between your computer and the internet. If you don't have a dedicated router, chances are it is built in to your modem. You will need to configure the router to forward the ports you need open to your computer --> 10.12.0.231.
Take a look at this site and see if your modem/router is listed.
          http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

If not, post the brand name and model number and I'll see what I can find.
