dvd not working
« on: February 24, 2008, 06:17:07 PM »
I have a dell inspiron b130 runnin on windows vista.  I noticed about a week ago that my dvd drive wasn't reading any discs.  I checked the properties and it says the device is working properly.  I put in a dvd or any type of disc and it won't read it.  When i go to my documents and double click on the drive it pops out and asks to insert a disc.  I downloaded the driver for my disc drive (TS-L532B) from dell and it didn't fix the problem.  If anyone could help i'd appreciate it.  Thanks

Try one of these:
1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
or...
2. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
