Sorry, I`m a bit of a dummy!! What are themes and extensions please?

No, when it`s started this way, I haven`t had any blank white screens.

Very well, then...
Start Firefox in normal mode, go Tools>Add-ons>Extensions, and click on Disable button in all add-ons.
Restart Firefox, and let us know, if you're still getting blank pages.

Hi again,

It`s just happened again. The extensions etc are still disabled. I was in the middle of attaching some files to an e-mail (by Yahoo via Firefox) and the screen suddenly went blank again
