Firefox BBCode Extension
« on: June 01, 2008, 06:43:41 PM »
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/128?id=128

Adds BBCode, HTML, XHTML & Symbols formatting to the context menu for forums.

Admin edit: Whoa, I suggest an alternative free image site (there's plenty). The advertisements on that site contains pornography. Removed the link to the page containing the full sized image.

I never said "no", but I tend to agree with Zylstra (I think that's who said it), that quick reply is meant for just that a quick reply. But still tumbling around my brain as something that could be done in the future.

Sorry Evil Fantasy had to edit the post as you may have or may not have noticed. The free image host you used has pornography in it's advertisements.

Ad Block Plus has a way of blocking ads ::), hence the reason I didn't realize they were there...

Minor thing, but I winder, if you guys experienced same thing.
When I' writing reply, and I want to make part of the text bold, I highlight the text, then go right click>BBCode>Bold, the text highlights, but then there is a second, or two before I can click again on anything. It's like 1-2 sec freeze.

I don't know, but I noticed -- my pc is very quiet -- that I could hear two disk accesses: when I highlight some text then I right click that selection & choose BBcode, I hear the first disk selection, then I choose e.g. bold or quote or whatever, the tags such as [bold][/bold] get added, then there is the pause, during which I cannot type, and then I hear a second disk seek and at that same moment I get the cursor back and I can type again.

[update]

I uninstalled it and installed this very similar one called BBCodeextra 0.2.5.6

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/491

And I don't get the freezes

Your post made me slightly uneasy. That is a very long pause, time to do all kinds of things! Also the guy who posted  the link hosted an image on a page with *censored* ads. Not a crime in itself, but still... I went to the extension writer's home page and it looks OK, but anyway BBCodeXtra 0.2.5.6 seems to have as many, if not more features...

Could the first one be malware or just badly coded?

Running an AVG scan just to be sure...

Probably bad code. I just ran HJT, and it's clean.
