My sound is not working

I tested the my headphones that i use on my ipod and they work its just the sound for my computer.. the headphones used to work on the pc but dont anymore. I have windows xp home edition. Any help please.. how do i find out if my sound card is messed up

I know for a fact that my speakers are broken... and i dont have any new ones

Try reinstalling your soundcard and drivers.

go into DEVICE MANAGER and check the status of your sound card.

my disc is not working it says the soundcard is fucntion properly yall know anywhere i can download the software? its Realtek i think thats it atleast

Head over to the Realteck website and search the model of the sound card there.

when i try to install it it says this

 The file ksuser.dll  on Windows Xp Home edition service pack 2  CD is needed
 Type the path the file is located and then click ok. I dont know hwat to do i put my windows xp disc in and it said it couldnt find it

Does your Windows CD include SP2?

yes but it says verison 2002
