I apologize if this has already been suggested (I don't exactly have time to go through 57 pages of posts right now), but I think a formatting option for nesting output in a code section could be handy.
public class HelloWorld
{
public static void main(String [] args)
{
System.out.println("Hello world!");
}
}
Hello world!
^ That just seems a bit sloppy to me.
Again, sorry if this has already been suggested.
Do you mean a new toolbar button? If so, there already is one (second from the right).
I think you mean though the difficulty of having proper tabs/indents with code blocks. Not much can be done about that, after all the editor is for editing posts- it's not a code IDE. I usually just copy paste from another program if the length is anything more then trivial.
There are forum mods for "formatting" in the sense of syntax colouring, but I don't think demand is really that high for it.
EDIT:
Oh wait, I see what you mean, nested code bbcodes. problem is everything inside a code bbcode is treated essentially as preformatted text, so even a nested code bbcode would appear:
this is a nested code section:
[code]nested area
[/code]
The parsing is pretty simple, it just takes from the starting tag to the first closing tag, with no regard for any nested code tags in between.
