My pc has the Vista Premium O/s and i have the McAfee program. today this message keeps popping up saying that the firewall stopped working and that to update Hackerwatch and then when i clicked McAfee Inc. it brought me to the forum regarding firewalls and there is this message to delete this file called

c: \programdata\McAfee\HackerWatch\data\ and to delete this file "HwLocal.xdb" reboot and updates McAfee

I went to the C drive and McAfee program but could not find this file and did a search..nothing came up..

this message "to update Hackerwatch" keeps popping up.. any advice would be appreciated.

Can you post the link to the forum regarding firewalls?

Got some more information about this. It seems to be an issue with Hackerwatch feature and the best thing to do is to uninstall and reinstall the software using the steps below:
    • uninstall all McAfee programs through "add/Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel", incl. Security Center.
    • Use the MCPR tool, see this article: How to remove supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR2.exe).
This will remove all Mcafee remnants from your computer. (you must have Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2 or W2K Pro SP4 to use this tool)
    • Launch Windows Explorer and delete all McAfee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\<user>\Application Data". In Vista: "C:\Program Data\McAfee. You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the McAfee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. Can be more than one!
    • Reboot and redownload/reinstall your McAfee products again.
