    Opera making rapidly growing files.
    « on: August 31, 2008, 10:40:10 PM »
I use Opera as my primary internet browser, and I've never had a problem with it before, but today when it made the temporary session file, this file started growing rapidly untill it had sucked up over 160 MB on my comp. When I restarted my computer, it check the files and found an error in the allocation header of the file (I think. I can't remember.)

Well, my OS is Windows XP Home Edition SP 1, my computer is by HP, 96MB SDRAM memory, and an Intel Pentuim II 400MHz processor. I didn't think that this info was important to this problem. Anyway, right now, it's not going down, but somehow, it's size is rapidly changing.

I suspect a malware infection...since your OS has not been updated.

I will notify our malware specialist so they can take a look at this thread.

      Just hang in there.

In the interim, you may want to take a look at this thread:

      Good point, Broni...

Though, I think Opera's actions may be in your area of expertise, my friend.

I have Opera installed, but I don't use it much. I think, he should go to your link.

Actually, I just cleaned my system using Avast! antivirus.
        Anyway,

Though you just scanned with avast!...doesn't mean your computer's safe...

Not only is the hardware outdated...and in need of an upgrade, so is your operating system.  Windows XP SP1, huh?  The latest is SP3...so, I would definitely say this machine is an accident waiting to happen.

No offense...however, with a machine such as this one...it would probably be cheaper to replace than to upgrade, but that decision is yours.

        Best of luck!

Windows 2000 may run OK there. More RAM needed, though.

Well, XP runs fine. Perfectly even. This is the only real problem I've had.
EDIT: The problem stopped. It just... stopped...
