Reappearing Network Drives

[Baffled]

I have set up a PC to connect to a network.

I have mapped two network drives on an account on that PC. Each one mapped with reconnect at logon checked.

I disconnect the two said drives and they disappear from the my computer screen.

I log off and log back on again an lo and behold, there they are again.

How can I permanently disconnect them?

For some reason, on the umpteenth attempt to disconnect these drives, they finally disappeared for good.

I haven't got a clue as to why they refused to permanently disconnect before, though.
