You need to give us more info. Computer specs, when did this start happening, did you install or remove any software and/or hardware?

Hello Melissa - welcome to the CH forums.

Here is the CH article on the error you posted.  Is the error message complete or is there just one more line?

There might be something wrong with your hard drive. Try another hard drive, or if you don't have one available, download a live CD of linux, and see if you can read the drive. I suggest Ubuntu. Download the .iso and burn it onto a CD. Then put the disc into the computer, it will boot off of it, so it doesn't need the hard drive. There should be a shortcut on the desktop to the hard drive. Try to read the hard drive.

Did you recieve a CD titled "Drivers" with this HP ? ?
If so you may need to re-install the motherboard drivers which will include the Ethernet controller...there should be a Read Me file on the driver CD with more info.

I just started having this psame problem

I was having problems w/ my compaq Laptop fan

I decided to open it up see if I needed to clean or replace it
 just needed cleaning..    Fan works fine now but I am getting this code

Go to BIOS. Make sure, that the boot order reads: floppy, CD, HD
Disable Boot from Network (wording is different on every machine, may say Integrated NIC, Network, PXE-xxxxxxx)
