    can I install two OS's?
    « on: November 15, 2008, 11:57:46 AM »
I'm at a friends house, so sorry if I get a little hazy on my specs :)
I'm currently running Windows Vista 32 bit: specs are as follows
    130 gig Hard drive
Can't remember the Processor, but it's a good one I think(sorry for lack of info)
    2 gigs of RAM
    Nvidia 9800GT
umm... lets just say it's a gaming computer and save time :)

So I want to install Ubuntu on my computer as well, and I have a few questions
    1. Is it possible to have two OS on one computer? And can I choose which one I want to use on startup?

    2. Do I have to format my computer to do so?

    3. I don't plan on installing lots of files on it, so how much space do you recommend I save for it?

Thanks for an help. I decided that if I want a future in computers, it's best that I learn multiple OS as well :D

      thanks for the reply!
Now my only question left is on how much hard drive space is good for Ubuntu...
would it be good if I partitioned the space so that Vista gets 90 gigs, and Ubuntu gets 40?

As i understand it, Ubuntu takes up about 2.5GB, so its up to you. You say your not gonna use alot of files and that Vista will be your main OS, so maybe around 20GB for Ubuntu.
      11 cheers for binary !
