Is your firewall configured to allow it IE to connect?

dnserror.htm is the page that loads when IE cannot connect to the internet.

So, with the firewall disabled, you can use Internet Explorer?
When it is enabled, you cannot?

        Add an exception rule then.

This can be done by going to Control Panel (Usually Start --> Control panel) and clicking on the Firewall icon.

Let me explain what I have done so far.  When I start my machine in safe mode with metworking I can access the internet using any program on my machine. So what I did was restart my machine in the normal mode but only run the process that would run if the machine had started in safe mode.  Still none of my programs can access the internet, I can only download email or updates.  How do I find out what on my machine is blocking the access to the internet?

          Thanks for the help

I'm not too sure, but this sounds just like the result of Malware.

I suggest going to the Computer Virus and Spyware Section and perform Steps 3, 4 and 6:

Start off with HJT. If not, then proceed to Carbon's link.

            • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
            • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
            • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
            • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
            • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
            • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
            • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
            • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad.
            • Click on Edit > Select All then click on Edit > Copy to copy the entire contents of the log.
            • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
            • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or required by the system.

Please re-open HijackThis and scan.  Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

                R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\xpsp3res.dll/dnserror.htm
                O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.wai2travel.com

Now close all windows other than HijackThis, then click Fix Checked.  Close HijackThis.

                Any better?
