    XP won't start up
    « on: April 23, 2009, 10:18:11 AM »
Basically I seem to be having similiar problems as the person in this post:

    http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,81717.0.html

Not sure exactly what is was that would've caused it. The latest thing I installed was spyboy search & destroy. I've already done the F8 thing to stop the continuous reseting to get the error message and this is what I get:

    STOP: 0x0000D0ED (0x81AE5D98, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I have the orginal xp installation disc I just need to know what I need to do to recover it if I can. Thanks.

The kernel mode I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed. This error also might occur during an upgrade to Win XP on systems that use higher throughput ATA disks or controllers with incorrect cabling. In some cases, your system might appear to work normally after you restart.

I've restarted in a bunch of times, even in safe mode and it just keeps reseting again.

Remove a side panel and check all the cableing...
And remove all power before doing so...

DJ if you have no luck with that here is an excellent Guide:
        Repair Install of XP

I suggest reading thru it to become familiar and also print out a copy for reference...
Done properly all your data and apps will still be there and XP will be fixed...
Done improperly all your data and apps will be gone but you will have a fresh clean install of XP.

Best of Luck to you and keep us posted...

P.S. This is provided we aren't looking at a hardware issue here.
