    Wireless network crashes my desktop
    « on: June 17, 2009, 07:11:20 AM »
My wireless router failed and I got a new one. One of my desktops crashes every time I try to connect to the wireless network. (This has happened with at least two different routers, so the problem has to be in the computer and not the router).

Here is the screen I get when the crash occurs:

I am then told I can reset the computer to an earlier time. I do so, and then I get this screen:

    http://danhughes.net/misc/crash.htm

(I had to take three pictures to scroll the whole message).

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

The official answer from M$..."IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL This Stop error, which can be caused by either software or hardware, indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory location it did not have permission to access or a memory location that exists at a kernel interrupt request level (IRQL) that was too high. "

For your BSOD it looks like it's driver for the network card (vnet581x.sys).

I'm not sure of the second one  ???

Concur it's a driver issue.  Try getting the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Well, the problem was the Linksys USB Network Adapter (the "receiver" for the wireless signal).  I replaced it with a similar Belkin adapter and now all is well.

Yeah, I hate it when someone posts a problem, gets lots of suggestions, and never comes back to explain how it was solved.
