16 bit windows subsystem warning

i'm trying to install a game that has worked on this computer before. i'm getting a warning
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT  the system file is suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. any helpful ideas is appreciated.

Assuming you are on Windows XP, at the command prompt type

copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32\

then press enter.  Your problem should go away.
