        Did you check Event Viewer?

        Also...
        Open Windows Explorer.
        Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.
Vista users You may need to copy .dmp files, paste them into some other folder, or desktop, and zip them there.

All dmp files are from last year, so they won't help us.
          What about Event Viewer?

Application events log shows some errors, but the source can't be named:
The description for Event ID 1001 from source Application Error cannot be found

System events log show a whole bunch of this error:
The MovieBox USB_B service failed to start

            Let's do another test...

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
            msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

            Click on Startup tab.
            Click Disable all

            Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
            Click Disable all.

            Click OK.
            Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Run the computer in this mode for a few hours, and see, if any shutdown will happen.

Did the msconfig thing...will leave puter on over night if necessary to see if it will shut down.  MovieBox is a program for converting and burning VHS tapes to DVDs.  I do not have the VCR connected to the puter, and haven't for quite some time which could be the reason for the failing to start.

Yeah, I've noticed, you have a lot of startups, so I wanted to see what will happen, when we reduce everything to bare minimum.

This puter is used quite heavily and I have tried to get the other family members to just leave the puter on during the day and I would shut it down at night but my words continually fall on deaf ears.
