    Best free firewall
    « on: July 09, 2009, 08:10:32 AM »
I want to download a free firewall. Which free firewall is the best for XP? I am using AVG anti-virus free edition,SAS Free Edition,Malwarebytes'  antimalware free edition, Spyware blaster. Which firewall is compatible with these software?

I'm not sure which is "best" but Comodo is a good one: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html

Comodo is very user-friendly, too.  I've been very comfortable using it.

    Definitely Comodo, in my opinion.

You could also try ZoneAlarm, or Sunbelt.

    Quite a list here: http://freeware.wikia.com/wiki/Lists_of_freeware_firewalls

and don't forget to disable windows firewall first before installing new firewall .... having multiple firewalls may cause computer problems (computer slowdowns probably or errors when the two firewalls may conflict.)

If you consider free a good cost then yes it is. ;)

Note: All of the stuff not offered in the free version should be covered by your antivirus.

So which firewall do you think I should use then? Online Armor or Comodo Firewall? Since both are free and right now, I have Comodo installed and it is working as advertised  :)

See the latest Comodo issue to know more of why I no longer advise to use their software. This is just one reason. But a big one... Comodo continue to issue certificates to known Malware and Another Comodo Controversy

Not to mention the fact that Comodo have let their moderators and staff personally and sometimes viciously attack bloggers who report their increasingly unreliable business practices. Most of the attacks have been removed from their forums but a few still remain.

So okay, Online Armor Free + Avast Home Edition (free) beats Comodo Free Firewall + Avast Home edition (Free)?
