BLACK SCREEN WHEN POWERING ON LAPTOP

Hello, I have a  HP dv6500 with windows vista. When I press the power button the fans start and the light turns on also the CD drive opens when I press the button. It seems the laptop is on but the screen stays black. Can someone help me please?

When you turn the computer on, try moving your screen to different angles and try to see if there is ANYTHING on the screen.
It's possible the blacklight has burnt out.

What happened before this problem?

this is a case of explorer crash...
follow following steps:
1.press ctrl+alt+ del to open task manager
2.press "new task button"
3.write "explorer.exe"
4.press ok
this might solve ur problem

I'm having the black screen problem,it's not the back light,ctl-alt-del no good,disconnected the hdd to see if i could get into BIOS still no joy.HELP.

The computer had been like frezzing and then would black out .
