    Problems accessing google.com
    « on: August 27, 2009, 09:56:43 AM »
I have searched around for answers to my problem and nothing seems to work.
I am the PC Tech for a call center. We use google maps to check for surrounding stores that will get our customers what they need. I have over 200 computers which all can access google with no problems. Then I have 1 that can't.
I tried everything I can think of. I can't ping it by google.com or the ip address the other computers see when I ping it. I get a page that says there was a DNS Server error. I tried 'ipconfig /flushdns'. Clearing browser cache, using a different browser. I get nothing. I thought it was only google.com, but I just tried to search with bing. I can pull up bing.com, but when I click search I get the same DNS Server error page. These are the only 2 sites I have found that do this.

have you ran your scans lately.  possibly maleware or something preventing it.
Windows 7 RC Tester.  Working on it.  Your monitor says etchasketch on the side!

If I fall who is there to pick me up now.  I stand alone but I stand as the gaurdian for whom I wish to protect.  The sound of my blade utters my name as you fall.  For I shall not move.  For those that forsake the very people are wosres

I run OneCare on all of these PC's. I did a full scan and came up clean.

Spybot is no longer the recommended spyware utility. Either MalwareBytes or Super AntiSpyware are the current best of breed.

                Is this IE?

                • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
                • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
                • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
                • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
                • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
                • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
                • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
                • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad.
                • Click on Edit > Select All then click on Edit > Copy to copy the entire contents of the log.
                • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
                • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or required by the system.
you mean like the hosts file?
Post the contents of this also.

If you're well aware then you should be recommending scans with the most useful software, otherwise what's the point?

The same goes for Spybot and Ad-aware. Outdated.
