    DVD-Drive problem
    « on: October 14, 2009, 12:26:44 AM »
What's the problem with my DVD drive (laptop) ?

It just reads the contents of the CD only. It didn't write to the CDs.
Hmmm, coming to DVD, it not even recognizing it.

One issue is that, when i'm burning the Cd (cd is recognized by the drive) by using nero software, it shows the entire process of burning and shows the message "Burn process completed successfully", but the CD is blank even after writing. It can be used for further writing (blank).

Why this happens I don't know but my drive reads the contents of CD very accurately and  fast

Tell me the remedy for this . Thanks in advance

    Vikram...

    Laptop brand and model, please.
Are you sure, you have a burner there?
    Did it work before?
Did you try some other burning program, like CDBurnerXP: http://cdburnerxp.se/?

This normally means the burn project was not "finalised".....the CD will appear blank.

DLoad the free ver. of ISOBuster and you can extract the data and then burn it properly...

Or, at the end of the Nero burning process click on "finalize disc"

I'm sorry, I'm an offline user and i don't have enough money to pay for internet ( very poor student). So i can't post you my replies at instance.

I tried allmost all the CD/DVD burners to burn CD/DVD, but the problem cann't been solved. The drive only recognizes the CDs and only reads the CDs, It won't support the DVDs (didn't recognized them). Before september my drive supported all the CDs and DVDs but later there are so many changes came in my laptop.

        1) The Drive won't recognize the DVDs and didn't write anything to CDs/DVDs

        2) My battery backup was downed to just 4mins( very poor backup). why i don't know (It was lion battery)

DVD RW has 4 lasers: CD read, CD write, DVD read, DVD write. Some of them seem to be out, or on their way...
