a needs to shut down

  I am used to frequently getting the error message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shutdown". It happens on all versions. I have for the most part abandoned IE for Firefox.
But now I'm getting the message "a has encountered a problem and needs to shut down". It is usually a different letter each time
  Any  idea what's going on?
