OK now I have to type from my phone. I restarted my computer as prompted to after the malware removed the items, now my computer turns on and displays my icon for my account, I click it and the log in sound is heard, then immediately the log off sound is heard and is says "logging off"   I can't even log in now.... I have not tried safe mode yet as I wanted to ask for assistance first.  Thank you for any help!

Please note that I was not able to complete anything after step four because of this.  The log I have from hijackthis was ran before any other steps were taken (the log at the top of his thread)

If you already have ComboFix be sure to delete it and download a new copy.

Download ComboFix© by sUBs from one of the below links. Be sure top save it to the Desktop.

                  Link #1
                  Link #2

**Note:  It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop

Close any open Web browsers. (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) before starting ComboFix.

Temporarily disable your antivirus and any antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Vista users Right-Click on ComboFix.exe and select Run as administrator (you will receive a UAC prompt, please allow it)
When finished ComboFix will produce a log for you.
Post the ComboFix log in your next reply.

Important: Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Remember to re-enable your antivirus and antispyware protection when ComboFix is complete.

I can not do this as I can not get past the log in page.  I can not get to my desktop.  Safemode does not get me there either.

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

Yes, it proceeds to show my background picture (with no icons or menus) for a few second and then goes to the wlecome/login page as normal, when I try to login, same thing happens

When I try to click r for repair, it restarts and goes to the log in window again which gets me no where.

If I press enter in the setup boot options instead the files that come up are :

                        c:  partition1 [NTFS]

                        D: partition two [hp recover]

                        f: partition 3 [ntfs]

                        should I try that route?

Also could I just buy a new hard drive and then access my current hard drive as an external hard drive later?
