I have firefox 3  and I went into  Option and put a checkmark in  Clear Histry when firefox  closses.

Now whenever I go to a  web  site that I have to log in it  wont remember me.

I thought this is just for  Hisrty in the address Bar.

    Or am I off

"History" includes what pages you've visited, what files you've downloaded, what you've entered into forms, and what cookies sites have sent you.

There is a down arrow there that will allow you to customise what the History function controls......

OK I go to Tools then Options  and on the main page I do have  Use Custtom Settings  selected in the dropdown box.

Then under this on the Page is all the check box  for how you want  firefox to work.

I have a checkmark in  Remember  Forms and Paswords.

Then for Cookies I have  keep untill  ecpired    in the dropdown box.
Under this I have a  checkmark in  Clear Histryt wen  firefox  closses.

now it still wont keep my  passwords?????????????????

Because some passwords are stored in cookies...leave cookies alone...they cannot harm anything.

History also includes the cookies you have sent to that site therfor it deletes your stored passwords also

Firefox 3.6 is the most recent release, and a five minute search couldn't find any BETAs available on Mozilla's website. If you want to find out your version, click "help" and then "About Mozilla Firefox" at the bottom. And also, are you sure you've set those website to remember your password, or not disable storing passwords?

Who said anything about the exact version he's using or about whether any BETAs are available?  How is that related to the issue here?

Perhaps I'm wrong but I believe setting password memorization preferences on websites that provide the feature is not the same thing as using the password save feature in Firefox, which is the issue here.

OK. I'm sorry. And I don't think I'll be coming back here, if thats your attitude.

Well, sorry if I seemed arrogant. I'm really just trying to clarify a technical point about the saving of passwords.  Honestly, I'm not absolutely sure, with some websites, whether it's the selecting of a preference to save a password by checking a box somewhere on the web page, which would be saved in a cookie, that is the main controlling factor here or whether Firefox's menu option under Tools, Options, Security, for saving passwords is more significant than a preference setting on the website.  In other words, if a web page has a check box to save a password is ignored, I believe Firefox will still ask whether you want to save a password and can do so, even though the option was ignored on the web page.

OK I now can tell you what is going on and what I don't understand.

In Firefox  under Privacey Tab  I set the Dropdown box to  Use Custtom Settings For Histry.

And I took the check mark out of Clear Histry When Firefox Closses.

And now Firefox remembers my passwords.

But right above this is a check box  Remember passwords.

So if I put a check in remember passwords  it sould  remember passwords   and  I thought I could put a check in Clear Histry when firefox closses  at the same time.

So my histray would clear  but it would remember  passwords  because that check box was checked also??

Is this how it sould work
