I have a old HP Vectra I am wanting to put Win Me on it it has 2 harddrives 40 gigs each I used a program called killdisk to wipe the hardrives inserted the ME disk says has problems will not install is there a program I can use to scan the hardrives and fix them?

I used the killdisk program on another computer and inserted the Me disk and it worked fine.

Honestly, I would probably buy a new hard drive. Prices are so cheap. This is the best software tool for fixing HDDs, but it costs more than a new drive. http://www.grc.com/spinrite.htm

A free option is to download a Linux install and see if it works on your system. It may turn out that by formatting the drive to run Linux, it will later be able to accept the ME install. Try Ubuntu Linux.

      Good luck!

Go to the website of the hd manufacturer and download their hd utility.
