OEM may refer to any of the following:
1. Short for Original Equipment Manufacturer, OEM describes a manufacturer who puts together computers made of other company's parts and then sells the product under its own brand name. Good examples of an OEM are ASUS, Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Sony.
2. OEM is also a label often given to a software program or operating system that is included with new computers; these discs are only available from the manufacturer and consequently, not available for resale.
