Port triggering

Port triggering is a routing setup in which computers behind a firewall can trigger an opening on a firewalled network port on the router, when the triggering computer experiences outgoing network traffic on a defined port. Using port triggering, a computer experiencing outgoing traffic on port 1234 could open port 2345 on the firewall for incoming traffic, for example.
