SSE may refer to any of the following:
1. Short for Simple Sharing Extension, SSE is an RSS extension from Microsoft that takes sharing information only unidirectional to bidirectional. For example, if you were using a calendar that was utilizing SSE and you updated appointments on your calendar, anyone subscribed to that SSE would also have their calendar updated.
2. Short for Streaming SIMD Extensions, SSE, originally known as ISSE (Internet Streaming SIMD Extensions), are instructions for multimedia programs first used on the Pentium III. For example, with an SSE processor, the computer can perform MPEG2 decoding without needing a decoder card. MPEG2 is a scheme used for playing DVD video discs. SSE was expanded upon with SSE2, which was introduced with the Pentium 4, SSE3, and SSSE3.
