Avatar may refer to any of the following:
1. Alternatively known as the root, admin, or administrator, an avatar describes a superuser in a Unix environment. Once logged on, they can go anywhere and do anything.
2. Sometimes abbreviated as AV, an avatar is an icon or digital image used to represent one's self in an online discussion. For example, many members have custom avatars on the Computer Hope forum. The picture shows the avatar, or userpic Computer Hope uses on social networks, chat, and forums.
