CPS
1. Short for Characters Per Second, CPS is a data transfer rate estimated from the bit rate and the character length. For example, at 2400 bps, 8-bit characters with start/stop bits (for a total of ten bits per character) will be transmitted at a rate of approximately 240 characters per second (cps). This can also refer to how fast a printer may be able to print. Other measurements of a printer include LPM and PPM.
2. Short for Cost Per Sale, CPS is where an advertiser only pays if a sale is made.
