Run a web page or website from within Windows

All versions since Windows XP have supported the ability to quickly open any website from within Windows without having to start an Internet browser first. To do this on your computer follow the steps for your version of Windows.

Windows 10

Windows 10
  1. Click Start or press the Windows key on the keyboard.
  2. Type: https://www.computerhope.com and press Enter to get to the Computer Hope web page. This URL (uniform resource locator) could be substituted for any website of your choice.
Note

You must either have the full URL that begins with http or you can also start off the address with www.

Windows 7 and Vista

  1. Click the Start Orb or press the Windows key on the keyboard.
  2. Type: https://www.computerhope.com and press Enter to get to the Computer Hope web page. This URL could be substituted for any website of your choice.

You must either have the full URL that begins with http or you can also start off the address with www.

Windows XP

Windows XP
  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. In the Run box type: https://www.computerhope.com and press Enter to get to the Computer Hope web page.
Note

You must type the full URL of the website or in other words it must have the http:// at the first of the address. Otherwise, Windows will not know what to run.
