Purchasing a computer floppy drive is not a crucial or expensive consideration. Below we have listed different tips for purchasing a computer floppy drive.

Considerations

Cables

When looking at purchasing a floppy drive, ensure it is included with the necessary cables. Most computers will already have a floppy cable; however, if you are building a new computer it will not have this cable and may not even have a place for the cable.

Type

Consider different options. Today, the floppy drive is slowly becoming extinct and there are other options, such as the Imation Super Disk drive. This drive allows for the computer to read standard floppy disks and can also read special 120MB floppy diskettes. Before considering the Imation Super Disk drive, ensure that your BIOS will support this option.
