*censored*, mate?
« on: July 05, 2005, 08:08:45 AM »
I recently went away on vacation, and when i came back, my computer wouldn't turn on.  All that happens when i press power is that everything starts going, but the screen remains blank, and some random voice says "System fail due to cpu over processing" and then later the voice says something about failing a PDA test or something... sounds very weird... is there anyone out there who can please help me out?  I'm basically going insane.

I wish it was a joke... and i have no idea how to do what you just said... I just built this computer with some help from my friends.  O and the thing that sounded like "PDA" before is probably something more like "CVA".... i dont know, its been a very disheartening morning.

How to enter the BIOS/CMOS

How to clear an unknown BIOS password.

The last article contains instructions how to reset the CMOS.

Did your 'friends' or anyone else have access to your computer at any time?
It may still be a joke, apply some pressure on them.  >:(

hahah, no my house was locked w/ ADT, so no joke here.  Besides, my friends wouldn't do that.  One of them is coming over soon, and we will try to follow all of your helpful advice.  What will resetting bios, etc. do?  Would it erase everything on my computer?

Resetting the BIOS causes hardware configurations to be reset. Hard Disk Drive files stay intact and so will your operating system.
