i get the bsod: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL only when i boot up my machine. i have uploaded the .dmp files and any help would be gladly appreciated

What OS are you running?

That error is generally caused by bad or conflicting drivers. Update all drivers (get them from the OEM web sites, not from MS Update) and check for a bios flash.

im running a win7 OP and all my drivers are up to date

Download BlueScreenView:

unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

This can occur after updating due to a buggy device driver, a virus scanner, system service, or the BIOS.

"A kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory address to which it did not have permission to access."

Restart your computer, and press F8 and select 'Last Known Good Configuration' option. This should roll back any bad update.

If you use a high controlled security virus scanner it's possible to of blocked part of the updating process (due to it's a high restricted area). This is best for your security but messes with updates. If possible, remove third-party device drivers and system services and temporary disable any virus scanners prior to upgrading (make sure your updates are clean and offical first).

 azzaboi could you clarify what you want me to preform and i havent updated anything latly that im aware of, my computer works fine as long as i shut it down every night, once i put it to sleep or just leave it on for longer then 24 hours or so the next restart will give the same BSOD and it occurs only right after teh win7 animation thing

Are you sure your OS hasn't attempted auto-updating which failed?
Is it continuously occuring?

So far from what your've told me I assumed you couldn't get place boot,
however if you can I recommend first checking your virus scanner is compatible with Windows 7.

Some possible causes / solutions:

If it's continuously or regularly doing on boot and you can't get past that point, the best option would be to restore your original stable system state and re-update it. When your computer is starting to boot, tapping F8 should display a boot option menu and select 'Last Known Good Configuration'. This should help resolve bad driver issues by rolling them back to when it was working fine.

If you have a huge amount of memory installed the OS might not be able to handle this, we're talking about hundreds of GBs! I believe there was a hotfix released for this, but surely not an issue unless your doing something extreme.

If the crash occurs randomly - your computers memory might be damaged / corrupted. When it's reaching and reading the damaged memory it would crash. In which case you should check your memory instead on boot. Find and remove/replace any damaged memory. To do this you can use a memory stress test tool like...

This application from Microsoft you can download and install onto a disc, then boot the computer using it.
It will take a while but scan your computers memory to check for errors/corruption when accessed.

This crash can also be brought on by spyware and adware or virus infections trying to access a memory address they don't have permission to. Ensure your system is clean of malious software, if your still having the issue.

The crash occurred by an incompatible Virus Scanner attempting to scan the memory causing the crash. Ensure your virus scanner is supported and get an update for it or replace it if not. I'm betting this is a good chance due to the behavour you just described, it's not working with Win7 - right after the win7 animation it will be loaded and start scanning, randomly crashing. Older virus scanners never supported this OS, until it came out and they made newer Windows 7 versions.


'ntoskrnl.exe' - is the kernel image, a major core component of the operating system.
Parameter 1: memory address that was referenced improperly
Parameter 2: IRQL required to access the memory
Parameter 3: value 0 = read operation / value 1 = write operation
Parameter 4: address which referenced memory (attempting the access)

Considering, ntoskrnl.exe is listed at fault, we're not dealing here with any regular driver issue.

nope it doesnt happen on every boot only when my computer has been on for more then 24 hours

its a desktop and i put to sleep every night but when i restart it or shut it down like a few days later it gives me a the BSOD
for example: Monday and Tuesday i put it to sleep and then i restart the comp on Wednesday i get the BSOD... also if i shut down every night the computer works just fine
