Computer runs in fast forward...

My computer decides whenever it wants to, to run everything in fast forward. Games, Programs, everything will just go into fast forward. The sound try's to catch up with the graphics.

It will be fine for some times weeks, sometimes days, sometimes hours in between doing this. 

Ive searched the internet and cannot find a specific answer on what could be causing this. It doesn't do do it on specific games or programs. I don't know what provokes it.. or makes it stop.

Ive tried a program called "Cheat Engine" which allows you to slow down programs and that's helped but it doesn't solve anything.

If anyone has any insight on this problem i would appreciate it, thank you

Please provide some more detail. Is this Windows 7?  Is it 64 but?
Name some specific games that go "fast forward".
Do these games require the XP mode?

Yes its Windows 7 64bit.

Battle Field Bad Company 2
Starcraft 2
BorderLands
Team Fortress 2
Civilization V

Example : Go to Reload weapon on bad company 2, Reload animation will be 2 seconds, very fast looking. Animation is complete, still cannot fire weapon because its still reloading.
                 
I don't know if its a problem on my end hardware wise. Or something with these games are bad. Ive reinstalled. Ive updated. Ive tried everything. I doubt its the games because there all from different company's it has to be on my end.

Not we can work on this. You have one game that works fine.
OK. The other games will not work right until you set then to 'compatibility mode' so that the timing will be right. Older games used a method that is no longer the 'right' way to time events.

Civilization V and Starcraft 2 aren't older games and shouldn't require Compatibility Mode. Additionally depending on what version of WoW the OP is running it could be a pre-Windows 7 version and might require compatibility mode yet it runs just fine.

The "cheat Engine" no doubt has a setting for "fast reloads".

Ive tried to change compatibility modes before but it doesn't fix anything. I tried t again tho just to make sure and still nothing.

And the version of wow is current. I had just bought a fresh copy of everything because I no longer had an account. so there all brand new.

And the " cheat engine" program I've been using to slow down games. not speed them up. Ive had this problem before i had that program. I actually have to take the speed settings and out them to .55 to slow it down to normal speeds. but then it becomes sketchy and im not using it on any online games to set off any anti-cheating programs.

Found my clocking setting on my Bios was set to N.O.S (It automatically boosts the system for demand tasks so it says) instead of auto.

Its all running fine since I did all that. But this is usually what it does, and then a day or a week from know it will come back. But lets see what happens.

If it's not retaining BIOS settings it may be a sign of a weak/dying CMOS battery...

It seems to be holding the setting. But thanks a lot for that info. I never knew that a dieing battery would cause it to lose settings. good to know.
