Can't Exit Sleep Mode?

Im using Windows Vista and when I put my computer into sleep mode it refuses to exit when i move my mouse, use my keyboard or my Vista Media Center remote BUT it does work when i turn my computer password off. This wouldn't be a problem if i didnt need to have a password on my computer but i do, can anybody help?

Microsoft actually states that you may need to contact your computer manufacturer in order to resolve this issue.

Vista...what a concept!
