Batch Files Now Prompt Open File Security Warning
« on: May 05, 2007, 09:10:54 PM »
I have written and have been running several batch files *.cmd on my winxp sp2 computer for years. I have scheduled these batch files to run using windows scheduler.

Lately a "Open File - Security Warning" window pops up each time these batch files are scheduled to run. The warning is "Unknown Publisher", which of course is me. The batch file will not run until I click on "Run". I assume this is now occuring due to an MS security enhancement that I installed. This is a problem as I schedule these to run while while I am sleeping.

How do I configure the batch files, windows, etc. to allow these batch files to run unattended?

There should be an option that says "Always ask before opening this file".  Uncheck it before you click on Run.

In addition to what Chris said, I'm assuming you're still running XP and not Vista.

Unfortunately, there is no such option. My choices are either "run" or "cancel". See the enclosed screenshot. Yes this is occurring on my "winxp sp2 computer".

Just a shot in the dark here...what are the permissions given to that folder with the batch files?

It is located on a win2k remote computer over a p2p network on which I have administrative privileges.

If memory serves me, I've been running remotly located batch files over a p2p network setup for about 10 years. Of course the hardware and software has been updated throughout those years, but this problem has occured only recently.
