Do you have problem remembering username and password?
« on: July 11, 2007, 06:50:50 AM »
I thought this yesterday. I mean a lot of site (like htmlforums) needs a username and password right?

For me, I have a lot of accounts (username and password).

I got one for e-banking, 3 emails account, ftp account, a few forums' account, and more.

I think I do not have much problem most of the time. Maybe because most of my account,

I try to use back the same username (Removed) which normally available for me.

Sometimes, "save password" feature helps. Sometimes, is due to me using it daily like my pc.

It is funny how sometimes we can key in the right password once our fingers tap on the keyboard

but without really knowing what we have just typed. Auto-pilot.

Yah, another one helps is using the same passwords (which is normally either one of 5 in my blood)

Only when all fails, I click "forget password".

I almost never forget my passwords.
But I also never save them, unless you count keeping myself logged in through cookies.

I have absolutely no idea how I even got here today.

You must make an idea that sticks for username and
password.

Like------------>Glue.  Lol only kidding.

I have the problem more on accounts I have not used for months.

Like my 'Electric company' and my 'Ebay account'.

I have way too many passwords to remember.  I use an Access database, kept in an encrypted folder, and itself accessed with a password (that one I absolutely must remember).  If I weren't doing this, I'd probably buy software designed for keeping/protecting passwords.  I've seen a few such programs but can't think of any at the moment.

...kept in an encrypted folder, ...

What method do you like/use for encrypting a folder?

I don't know.     I liked the outline of his method,  and just wanted some more detail on it.      I might borrow the idea(s).     :)

...kept in an encrypted folder, ...

What method do you like/use for encrypting a folder?

The drive must be formatted NTFS.  If so, right click on a folder and select Properties, click on Advanced, and check the box for "Encrypt contents to secure data".  The name of an encrypted folder will appear in green font in Windows Explorer.

Can't do that.    Ah well... so much for that idea.   :)

I don't have to worry about usernames and passwords anymore.

I use a keyboard with a built-in fingerprint reader.  This negates the problem of having to remember usernames and passwords.

All I have to do is simply program the reader for a particular login page, place my finger on the reader and "voila",  I'm in...

Writing down usernames and passwords are never a good idea...unless you have some place totally secure from prying eyes.

If the login page changes...all I have to do is use the email address I signed up with to have my username and password resent...then I just update the reader.

I really don't know what I would have done without this thing.
