Thunderbird issue w/ Webmail Extension

I'm running the latest version for the Windows XP SP2 version of Thunderbird. I also have the latest updates for the extensions mentioned.

I've been running TB with three email addresses for a while now. All of a sudden, however, I am having difficulty with my Hotmail email:





In spite of my attempts, I cannot get mail to send or receive through Hotmail. All my settings are where they should be; I didn't touch them. I've looked online, and I've tried setting Hotmail to WebDav, and both the old and new Hotmail Live settings. Nothing is changing it. I can access Hotmail through a browser, but it's impossible to do anything with TB.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you installed the Hotmail extension for Webmail?

Yes, I have, and it's fully up to date.

Hmmm, that's strange. I can't receive e-mail either.

Right. As I said, though, my other Email addresses work just fine.

If we exclude Hotmail being down, which happens, then you have to double check your Hotmail Server Settings.
I had similar problems with Gmail, and what worked for me was this:
- incoming mail port: 995, security set to SSL
- outgoing mail port: 587, security set to TLS

That doesn't solve it, I'm afraid.



I've reset the ports to 110 and 25, and security at None. It may be that the server is having trouble, but I don't think that's the case, because I can access my email with the browser; it's just TB giving me trouble.

I don't think, web based email will work in Thunderbird with security set to NONE.

I'm pretty sure, port 110 won't work.
Try port 2000.

I can access Yahoo! Mail BETA from Thunderbird using port 110.
Most ISPs block port 25.

I just found out the reason why my Yahoo! account was not working. I told Thunderbird to access the SMTP server through Port 110, when I should have being using Port 25.

Yes.
MS is changing things at Hotmail.   
Every time they do this,  the Webmail developer has to play catch up.    He waits until his hotmail accounts fail, then checks logs, etc.,  figures out what he needs to change in the extensions,  fixes them,  and releases updates.

What is even stranger appearing,  is when you have multiple hotmail accounts, and only one fails,  and the rest keep working fine.
It means that the accounts are on different servers and MS just hasn't gotten around to them all yet.    The others would eventually fail too.
This is what happened to me over the last few days.

I did download and play with his betas.

It worked.
However.....

Today,  using Thunderbird->Tools->Add-ons->Find Updates ,   I see that he has released new versions  ( not betas ) .
I've just let it update,  and am experimenting now.

If you have problems with the built-in update function  ( there were some snags with it earlier today ) ,   you can manually grab the .xpi files from
http://webmail.mozdev.org/installation.html
Check the version numbers there vs. what you have currently in use.
Bet ya yours are not up to date.
