I think, we're dealing with two different things here...

    As for your HJT log...
Close all open windows. Go Start>Control Panel>Add\Remove, and uninstall...
...it may be listed as one of these:
    - AskTBar
    - Ask Plugin
    - Ask Jeeves

Open HJT, and put checkmark next to:
    - O2 - BHO: Ask Toolbar BHO - {FE063DB1-4EC0-403e-8DD8-394C54984B2C} - C:\Program Files\AskTBar\bar\3.bin\ASKTBAR.DLL
    - O3 - Toolbar: Ask Toolbar - {FE063DB9-4EC0-403e-8DD8-394C54984B2C} - C:\Program Files\AskTBar\bar\3.bin\ASKTBAR.DLL
    Click "Fix checked".

Restart your computer in Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 key, when your computer starts)

Open Windows Explorer. Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab, put a checkmark next to "Show hidden files, and folders".

    Delete following files/folders (if present):

    - AskTBar folder from C:\Program Files

    Turn off System Restore:

    - Windows XP:
       1. Click Start.
       2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
       3. Click the System Restore tab.
       4. Check "Turn off System Restore".
       5. Click Apply.
       6.  When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
       7. Click OK.
    - Windows Vista:
       1. Click Start.
       2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
       3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
       4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
       5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
       6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C:")
       7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
       8. Click OK

    Restart in Normal Mode.

    Turn System Restore on.

    Post new HijackThis log.

    However....
    http://tweaksforgeeks.com/IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.html
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error....
    Quote
Most commonly it is the CPU overheating. A close second would be bad RAM. The first thing I would do if you have this issue is to run the machine till it gives you that error, then immediately reboot it, go into the BIOS and check the CPU temperature. 3/5 times it will be way too hot.

Install Speedfan: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php, and see what your computer temps are.
Get Memtest: http://www.memtest86.com/, and check your computer RAM.
