Virtual memory Low

K i searched this and didnt get any luck but...

K i am a Half-Life 2 mapper so the new program to make maps for hl2 takes up alot of cpu...

ok i get into the program and i edit my map for about 10 min and then windows boxes comes up and says virtual memory is low... Then 5 min later, my internet cuts out, all programs error, cant save any of my work, and the only way to get my stuff back working is restarting my comp.


Here are my comp stats

Windows XP Proffessional (SP2)
AMD 2000+
512 Ram
GeForce FX 5500 OC
40 GB hard Drive.

I Really need help, if you get my comp fixed (so it doesnt error) I will be willing to host someone a website  ;D ... that is how desprate i am... plz help

How much free disk space do you have? (This is your virtual memory)
Delete any unneeded or unused programs
Clear temporary files (internet and temp folder)
Disable Windows indexing service (absolute resource hog)
If you still have a problem, disable system restore
Defrag the hard drive
Install a second hard drive and put the swap file on it

You probably have other programs running, that seems to be eating-up your virtual memory.... Try closing out all programs that you will NOT be using while playing the game... (MSN, AOL IM, etc.)
