    I just can't help but laugh at people who use that term like it's an insult. If there was a top ten list of words (slang or not) I'd like to see removed from the English language, this would be on it along with ur, l8r, l33t, cya, and pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoco niosis...

            Just in case anyone is concerned, users with the rank of "newbie" on the forums (with 1-2 posts) is simply stating that the user is new and not the same thing as Noob. ;)

            Basically, it's a lung disease caused by breathing ultra-microscopic particles of volcanic silica. While the word is in many dictionaries, many people argue whether or not it's actually a word since:

            1. Technically, it was made up by some people trying to win a contest.
            2. It's a theoretical disease that doesn't actually exist.

              sili-------short for silicosis  another respiritory ailment
              volcano-----------self explanatory
              niosis--------we just make this stuff up.
