If you knew about DOS then all the Windows version up to Win ME were second nature since all the were were fancy GUI's that made DOS easier to use without even having to type stuff on the command prompt. Once Windows NT came out, it was a whole new world since the NT family was 32bit compared with the 16/32bit hybrid of the old Windows versions.
