sorry im new at this! my computer has been playing up for a week or two and has had several viruses etc dispite using AVG. Norton was on computer but said it couldnt be found. i thought the two maybe conflicting. Its been crashing, freezing slow and taking about half hour or more to start up. I downloaded a norton free trial scan but its been scanning for two days now constantly, i dont know if thats because its compleat scan not just a quickie. but dont think its quite right. i dont know wot to do. ive been to the site u listed but maybe its something more serious? im not too good on the tec side of computers. please help if you can before i go mad!! thanx :-\   os is windows xp

I think it's the virus. Just stop it, restart, get rid of it, restart, and follow the steps in that link I gave you.

Ive managed to get rid of two of the programs, but the last one wont uninstall without a password which i wasnt given! Is there anyway around that one? I have re installed AVG as my anti virus? Sorry to be a pain!  :) :) Thanx

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a full format and clean install of Windows every now and then...
Just skip the Norton install this time and you should be Golden...

Aside from what patio said, you're not following directions.
