    I will have to get the computer to reconize the HD first.  Then take it from there, to see if I even get a C:> WINDOWS DIR,ETC.

      just a thought, if you havent already resolved your problem, you can take out your hard disk and try to retrieve your files.  Then just reinstall the operating system on the hard drive so it is back up and running normally.
