I make money through a job, not by putting a bunch of famous/popular people on a web page without their
prior authorization in an effort to expunge funds from the people who trust those people, while all the while claiming to use secure http without a valid certificate.
they would it's a scam because only a few or maybe one will win, but they buy tickets anyway.
your missing my point. it's not a scam for the people being voted for (IE, the one winner) but a scam since the people RUNNING the vote, the ones with the
invalid security certificate, are stealing personal information from the voters and selling it to others. the victims are BOTH the fans, because they are going to likely be the victims of identity theft, as well as those being featured on the site, since their name is involved with this whole scheme.
Adding further to this is the fact that the people running mallplace.com are or were known spammers. Likely they are selling the personal information to not only other spam sites but also identity thieves.
IT's the FANS that are being LEECHED for personal information! Why else would they want you change your DNS? there is no "innocent" reason to ask you to do so.
My browser wouldn't even let me go there without skipping through a warning about it's SSL certificate.
I hear EF, I have since he said this was a site making money long ago, but he/she refuses to hear what I'm saying. Bernard madoff, made off with millions from people, they had no idea they were being scammed. For the ppl whose names are being used here, If they're being scammed and they want to sue they will. But they are also being promoted. Trade-off. Sites on line either mostly make or pay money. Doesn't CH? If you don't have to pay for anything how lucky you are. But do you make money? And if so does that make CH a scam site.
you obviously don't even have a clue what a scam site would be. they aren't scamming people out of money, they are scamming them out of their personal information. And even if it isn't that there is something deeper, as indicated by your query regarding DNS. if CH makes any money it's through advertisements. advertiser's pay to have their advertisements displayed on the CH main page. the people seeing those advertisements
choose wether they want to not only examine the ads in more detail (via the links) but also wether they want to buy them. In this case, chances are voters are never asked "can we vend your personal information to any third party willing ot pay us for it?"
There is a difference between loyal fans and brainless sheep. most people like david want loyal fans, not brainless sheep willing to give out their personal information to what they believe is a good cause, while subsequently unaware, not only that the vote doesn't matter anyway, since it's twitter- it's not changing anything... but also that any personal information they reveal may be sold to any interested third parties.
Basically, they are banking on what you said- that you'll support anything with his name, regardless of wether or wether or not he gave his personal approval.
the trade-off isn't between being scammed and promoting his name. it's trading the personal information of thousands, maybe millions of fans, for the meaningless votes on some random twitter vote.
It's a web-site. it can't change the world. Continue supporting your idol, but please stop being brainless sheep followers while doing it. it's a web-based poll for god's sake.
