Well, it seems like you really need to pursue this problem with your ISP.  Have you searched for info on their website, such as here?: http://www.newwavecom.com/cable/cablesupport.html

Does your video service ever drop out, freeze or pixelize?  If you don't have a digital box is the picture snowy?

I have a rca dcw725 wireless gateway router. ...
This is what you have?

If it's being provided by your cable company as part of your monthly rental, why not let them figure it out?

From NewWave's web site.

Quote
Cut the wires and go wireless today! You can sign up and rent a wireless gateway for a low monthly fee of $10.00 or purchase our wireless gateway for a one time price of $109.99.

Even if you bought the router, it's still got to covered by some kind of warranty since it's not much more than a month old.

However, my first thought is that it is an outside plant issue and can only be fixed by NewWave.

I have a rca dcw725 wireless gateway router.  After 20 minutes or so I will get disconnected from internet... I will reset my router and it will work good for another 20 minutes or so.
    1.  Disconnected from internet.  And you know you're disconnected because...
         a.  The cable modem status LEDs confirms this because their state is...
         b.  Browser is unable to connect to Internet websites.
              (1)  Try http://www.computerhope.com
              (2)  Try http://69.72.169.241

Does this router have four ports? Do you mean that if you disconnect all ports and reset the modem one port light stays on?
      That's not right.
What is the modem of the router?
Do you have a picture of it?

my router is a 4 port with wireless and only when i get disconnected from internet the no. 2 port light is on. when i reset 95% of the time the no. 2 light stays off and internet works fine but on a few occasions the no. 2 port light will come back on and I have to reset again and it will stay off until you guessed it i get disconnected from internet.  I hate to keep on beating this bush but its very aggravating to get disconnected all the time.  In anyones opinion could it be my router bad???  Just wondering..

stev, You have been given good advice previously by "soybean" & "Computer_commando" = contact your ISP and have them provide  another router. If you own the router (as is sometimes the case) then it is undoubtedly still under warranty =take it back and get another one. It is time to act upon the advice that has been given.truenorth

            1.  From twenty-four posts:
                 a.  ISP is "NewWave"
                 b.  Internet link is "cable"
                 c.  Modem/Router is "rca dcw725 wireless gateway router"
                 d.  OP states they "get disconnected from internet"
                 e.  When disconnected, number 2 ethernet port LED is on...

            2.  Disconnected from internet.  Please "define" the scope of the problem...  At the point you've been disconnected from the internet:
                 a.  What is the LED status of your DCW725 device (off, blinking/flashing, on solid?
                      (1)  Eth1
                      (2)  Eth2
                      (3)  Eth3
                      (4)  Eth4
                      (5)  WLAN/USB
                      (5)  Power
                      (7)  DS
                      (8/) US
                      (9)  ONLINE

                 b.  Internet Browsers:
                      (1)  Unable to access websites by name from a "browser"; e.g. "http://www.computerhope.com"?
                      (2)  Unable to access websites by their IPv4 address from a "browser"; e.g. "http://69.72.169.241"?

                 c.  Ping command.  From a "command prompt" window you are:
                      (1)  Unable to access website by name; e.g. "ping www.computerhope.com"?
                      (2)  Unable to access website by IPv4 address; e.g. "ping 69.72.169.241"?
                      (3)  Use "ipconfig /all |more" command to see necessary IPv4 addresses:
                            (a)  Unable to ping your "default gateway" address?
                            (b)  Unable to ping your own computer's IPv4 address?
                            (c)  Unable to ping your own loopback address; e.g. "ping 127.0.0.1"?
