I am not a fish; I am a railway locomotive named after a racehorse! A Gresley A3 Pacific no less. Everybody has heard of 4472, her better known stable mate, I expect.

Former LNER Pacific No. 60041 Salmon Trout near the end of her life

A model of her in LNER days. I just love the shape of the boilers on these locos.

Guys, let's not hijack the thread.  ;D

Anyway, the program he's referring to come from this site:

Is it only this program that you have problems running full screen or do any other programs give you issues?

Yes, I am aware of the program you're having an issue with, which seems to be something you wrote yourself. What I am asking is if you can reproduce this same lockup issue with any other DOS programs other than the one you've written. For example, an old DOS game or other program that runs full screen.

Whether I use my program or the console window.

The one you get with start/run and type in 'cmd',

When I type alt-enter it goes full screen.

When I type alt-enter again (or type 'exit' ) it goes small screen again.

      So far so good.

Now the next time I type alt-enter it goes full screen.

When I type alt-enter again (or type 'exit') it crashes.

You need to give as much information as possible. Every time I read this, I learn something new about your problem or you change the situation. Remember, we can't see the computer and what it's doing. Every detail is important.

So now, it does it whether or not you have your program running?

So from how I understand it now:
      1. Turn computer on.
      2. Start -> Run -> CMD
      3. Alt+Enter (full screen)
      4. Alt+Enter (not full screen)
      5. Alt+Enter (full screen)
      6. Alt+Enter (crash)

If you were to do these very things, without changing them or running any programs or doing anything else, your computer crashes, correct?

        Yes,  that's it!

I suppose I should say "sometimes it crashs on step 4".

But it always crashes the second time around
