Question about CH
« on: December 24, 2010, 01:34:25 PM »
HI, I've seen many guests posts around the CH boards even in the year 2010 (this year, now going to '11)

What the heck is up with the guests? Are there specific threads they are ALLOWED to post in or something? ???
And is it like if your IP has been logged as being registered you can't post as a guest anymore due to spam reasons or something??

Since when and how was guest posting enabled on CH forums and why.

And be honest.

Thanks....
I just want to clear this up, I've searched all over the forums and found nothing in particular matching my case. O.o

a "guest" post is either a poster  that deleted their account since they posted or when guest posting was on. I don't think guest posting was on for more then a day, if at all. I recall Nathan mentioning some experimentation with guest posting (which would certainly make Bill's "job" easier)

@ BCP , if i may i would like to disagree with you , it did go on for long enough years ago because i would go into the old posts sometimes , it must have been before nathan had the forum setup as it is now

I was talking about NOW not years ago- you know, the time I'm pretty sure he's asking about.

Also, almost all of the old posts say "guest" because Nathan deletes old accounts every few years, and often people delete their own accounts. Deleted accounts mean that every single post by that user becomes a "guest" post.

AH, harry 48. If you ever quit CH (Which I please hope you don't) I know your account will retire to a guest account.

Please tell me, is there anything I can do for you at all here on CH?  |V|

Oh God, keep up Harry 48, you add to a topic, somebody else replies in context, then you answer as if this is the first time you've read it. ::)

It was a joke, albeit a dry and subtle one.

BC P stated that Nathan deletes old and unused accounts every few years.
You said that if your account goes to a 'guest' account "you must be dead". Implying that you would never delete your own account.
Then BC P made a joke insinuating that you would delete your account before you...erm...y, know.

Surely, you dont think when BC P said......
Well it's nice to know you'll take the time to delete your account.
that he was dealing in fact.

I've been a member of this forum a few years and, if i've learnt one thing, it's that BC_Programmer only deals in fact and humor and if you are not sure which is which, here's a tip. If its not a fact then it must be humor.

11 cheers for binary !
