USB 2.0 vs. USB 1.1
« on: August 20, 2004, 11:45:16 AM »
I would like to install a newer motherboard with USB 2.0 in an older case with front USB 1.1 ports. Will this give me any problems?

If you mount a new MB with USB2 hardware and OS (Linux or Win2K/XP), then connect the front ports to an MB USB2 connection, the front ports will be USB2. Win98SE (without special driver) provided USB1.1, and Win98 1st and Win95 OSR2 provided USB1.0.

You will need to install the USB 2.0 drivers for Windows 98 of any flavor to recognize the USB 2.0 ports.
