AMD's Quad Core system
« on: April 10, 2007, 01:29:08 AM »
AMD's newest idea the Quad Core system. For anyone who hasn't seen the video, pretty amazing, quad core processors, four gigs of ram, four video cards!

That's insane.
4Gb of RAM seems far too low for a system like that.
And having two 8800s and two "video cards" (unspecified) seems odd to me.
Still amazing though, and very upgradeable.

GAH!

I will have to try later. Is this a computer or a CPU?

It's a computer with 4Gb of RAM, an AMD quad core CPU and 2x8800 GPUs, plus two unidentified GPUs.
Multiple monitors.
Encoding/decoding several HD videos, plus playing WOW (I think?) and some other stuff, all at once.
Also can be upgraded with a second quad core CPU for a total of 8 cores.
Basically just showing off what they can do.

That's nuts.  I wonder what a machine like that would cost.

    It's Vista Capable.
But what does that mean in real terms?
Hmm . . . it can boot it in a few hours and crash with a special green screen of death.
    That's right.

WoW as a benchmark? I'm not really convinced.

That's the second time he says 'graphics' cards.
